Noorani Qaida: A Beginner's Guide

The Qaida is the ladder between the Arabic alphabet and the Quran. Here is what it contains and how to work through it.

By Iqra UL Quran Editorial Team · 14 January 2026 · 6 min read

Noorani Qaida is a graded primer. Each page introduces one idea and drills it until it becomes automatic before the next idea is added.

  • • Individual letters and their shapes
  • • Joined letter forms
  • • Short vowels and tanween
  • • Sukoon and joining rules
  • • Madd letters
  • • Reading practice from the Quran

How long does it take?

With two or three lessons a week plus daily practice, many children complete the Qaida in six to twelve months. Adults often move faster through the early pages and slower through pronunciation drills.
